New WSO2 Federal Systems White Paper Explores Solution Architecture for Improving Information Sharing and Security
Palo Alto, CA (PRWEB) October 16, 2013 -- The increased pace of military and intelligence operations across the globe is shrinking decision cycle times and demanding a more rapid sharing of information. However, traditional tenets of information security—barriers separating information and systems, differing classification levels, and strict organizational policies—often hinder the time-efficient transmission of information. A new white paper from WSO2 Federal Systems examines how IT professionals in the government sector can effectively address cross-domain, cross-compartment and cross-organizational policy issues using open source technologies.
The new white paper, "In Pursuit of Secure Efficiency: Achieving Operational Agility and Fiscal Benefits Through Secure Multiple Classification Level Information Sharing," was developed by Adam Firestone, WSO2 Federal Systems director of solutions. In it, Adam explores a multi-level information-sharing solution that exploits open source technologies. He also discusses how this solution creates a robust, reliable and secure mechanism that can significantly decrease the latency of information sharing while maintaining or improving levels of information security.
Adam begins by examining core cross-domain, cross-compartment and cross-organization information-sharing policies and issues. He then introduces information security technologies that enable cell-level access control within a key-value store (KVS), as well as identity, credential, and access management (ICAM), including fine-grained, attribute-based access control (ABAC). Finally, he proposes technical solutions to assist with create, read, update and delete (CRUD) functions for operational and intelligence data, addressing:
