New WSO2 White Paper Presents an IT Reference Architecture for Addressing Retailers’ Multichannel Demands
Mountain View, CA (PRWEB) December 01, 2015 -- Retailers with a strong multichannel presence are poised to do well this holiday season. According to the International Council of Shopping Centers Black Friday Shopping Study (1), 82% of shoppers will do research online before making purchases in-store, and 80% of consumers plan to use a mobile device when shopping. To help retailers optimize their multichannel IT implementations, WSO2 has published a new white paper that provides a reference architecture for a connected retail business.
Reference Architecture for the Connected Retail Enterprise
The white paper, “Connected Retail Reference Architecture,” was developed by WSO2 Software Architect Kasun Indrasiri. He begins by giving an overview of the various systems that come together in a typical retail IT landscape. Kasun also explains how a connected retail business can engage customers in a more consistent manner, leading to new business opportunities and increased revenue.
Kasun then explores the key challenges of becoming a connected retail enterprise. These include creating a rich customer experience through fast delivery and checkout procedures, managing multiple channels through which data and sales management are performed, and seamlessly uploading price updates so that it propagates to all parts of the retail ecosystem.
Next, Kasun presents a reference architecture for implementing a connected retail system so existing legacy systems, services and data can be integrated. He also addresses how to meet requirements for expanding IT capabilities inside and outside the organization; addressing customer demands; enabling the flexibility, and agility to explore new markets.
Kasun then examines how products within the comprehensive, open source WSO2 enterprise middleware platform can be used to meet a retail enterprise’s IT requirements. He concludes by presenting examples of how retail customers are leveraging WSO2’s platform today.
