New WWII Memoir Shines Spotlight on Polish Underground
ATHENS, Ga. (PRWEB) April 28, 2015 -- One single document saved the lives of author George Dynin and his mother and sister. When the Nazis began to move in on them, the Dynins changed one letter in their surname, turning them into Polish aristocrats and allowing them to evade persecution from the Nazis before settling in Belarus.
Dynin and his family, however, did not flee Europe. Instead, he and his mother joined the Polish Underground and saved the lives of countless individuals. In his thrilling new memoir, “Aryan Papers” (published by Archway Publishing), Dynin recounts the atrocities he witnessed and insists that even in times of turmoil, good does prevail.
After settling in Belarus, Dynin’s mother, now Countess Dunin, took a job as a secretary for the town mayor, who was a Nazi collaborator. She bravely passed any information she heard to Dynin, a teenager at the time, who then informed the Polish Underground. The two were instrumental in sabotaging several Nazi schemes and saved many lives.
“This book gives the reader a sense that one can survive even the worst in life,” Dynin writes. “One should never lose hope and always do something to improve the situation.”
