London, England (PRWEB) October 03, 2013 -- The New York Film Academy will be holding an exclusive Musical Theatre event across the pond in London, England. The performing arts have enjoyed a rich and distinguished history in London and it’s NYFA’s goal to explore that vast pool of talent that continues to develop.
The event will start with The Broadway Musical Theatre Workshop with Kristy Cates on Saturday, October 19th 2013 at the Chelsea Theatre (7 World's End Place, Kings Road). Kristy, known for her role as Elphaba in the production of "Wicked," will be working one-on-one with select individuals in order to break down his or her performance. “My goal is to make sure the performer is making their song authentic as to who they are as an artist,” says Kristy Cates. As NYFA’s Director of Outreach for Musical Theatre, Kristy held a similar workshop in Rio de Janeiro, where over 150 aspiring performers were in attendance to watch her magic.
In addition to The Broadway Musical Theatre Workshop, NYFA will be holding private musical theatre and acting auditions with Joey Zangardi from 8:00pm- 10:00pm. Having worked as a performer, director, choreographer, and casting with MTV, FOX, Nickelodeon, NBC, and many of the major studios and networks, Joey is now incorporating his experiences at NYFA with the seminars he teaches around the globe. When auditioning acting and musical theatre applicants, he is looking for talented individuals with a passion for the arts and the potential to succeed in NYFA's hands-on programs.
The New York Film Academy offers short and long term programs in both Acting for Film and Musical Theatre. They also have a cutting-edge, two-year program that merges the Musical Theatre Conservatory and Acting for Film programs so that students interested in musical theatre and film are able to study the various aspects of both genres, including a deep exploration of movie musicals. During the second semester, all students perform in a short musical film production and/or live stage presentation in collaboration with Broadway level instructors that culminate in a showcase of their work for family, friends, classmates and industry contacts.
