The 2013 portion of the National Basketball Association has not gone as well as planned for the New York Knicks. With Carmelo Anthony, Tyson Chandler, Raymond Felton, Metta World Peace, Andrea Bargnani and J.R. Smith, the team was filled with talent and expected to do big things in the Eastern Conference. Despite their 9-21 start through the first 30 games, the Knicks still sit just five games behind the Atlantic Division leading Toronto Raptors, who are two games below .500 themselves.
When the calendar turns to January, the Knicks should not worry about their poor start because they have the skill to get the job done. They have one of the leading scorers in the NBA in Anthony, and have been getting incredible play from Bargnani and Smith. The team has also seen solid play from other players including Tim Hardaway Jr., Iman Shumpert and Amar’e Stoudamire.
Stoudamire is far from the dominant player that he was when he was a member of the Phoenix Suns, but he has bounced back after an injury-plagued 2012-13 season. He has played in 24 games, averaging 8.8 points per game in just 18 minutes per game. The team will need to see more production from Stoudamire when he gets in the game, but they will also need to see World Peace put on a better show for the Knicks to be successful.
When World Peace signed with the Knicks in the offseason, it was a homecoming that many fans were hoping to see since he played at St. John’s. While he was a welcomed addition to the team, he has failed to live up to the hype, averaging 5.5ppg in 15mpg and is shooting less than 40 percent from the field. He isn’t going to get a lot more minutes than 15 each game, but the team will need to figure out a way to get him in the offense a bit more.
The thing about New York sports is that the fans stick behind the team through it all. Despite the fact that this team is doing so poor right now and that sports talk radio won’t say a nice word about the team, the fans still stand by their favorite players and teams. With that, tickets for New York home games at the World’s Most Famous Arena, Madison Square Garden, are still hot items in the city. Watching a basketball game at MSG is something that should be on the bucket list of any fan of sports in the northeast, regardless of if they are a fan of the Knicks or not.
In the Eastern Conference, anything can happen in regards to a team reaching the playoffs. With only three teams in the conference with a .500 winning percentage, a big winning streak could be all the Knicks need to propel themselves towards a division title and a spot in the playoffs. With a large amount of talent wearing the New York jersey, this is something that could happen and fans should waste little time in getting their tickets to catch all the action.
Knicks fans should add promo code DISCOUNT for any 2014 New York Knicks tickets at Ticket Down. This popular website also has cheap concert, theatre and sports tickets for every imaginable event worldwide.
