New York Restoration Project Invites Peter E. Raymond to Join Chairman’s Council
New York, NY (PRWEB) June 04, 2015 -- New York Restoration Project (NYRP) has named Peter E Raymond to its Chairman’s Council. Raymond, a serial entrepreneur and inventor, joins twenty-two other members including Yoko Ono Lennon, Tim Gunn and Chairman, Joshua Sirefman.
Since the organization’s founding by Bette Midler in 1995, NYRP has dedicated its resources to make a great impact on underserved communities throughout New York City. Through park cleanups, the MillionTreesNYC initiative with NYC Parks, and garden restorations, NYRP is greening the five boroughs.
“Creating healthier and more livable space should be a goal that everyone has: in their home, garden, neighborhood, and globally,” said Raymond. "From the onset of the Industrial Revolution, consumption and lack of respect for the environment have run rampant. I am excited to be involved with a group that initiates and completes projects to reverse this trend.”
“I’m thrilled to welcome Peter as a leader in NYRP’s work, which is exceptional and invaluable,” said Deborah Marton, NYRP Executive Director. “No other conservancy works city-wide to improve quality of life, preserve culture, and strengthen community the way NYRP does. Peter’s contribution, including his expertise in global communications, will benefit NYRP greatly and elevate our mission.”
NYRP is dedicated to transforming spaces in under-resourced communities to create a greener, more sustainable New York City; NYRP is also the leading private partner of MillionTreesNYC – an initiative to plant and care for one million new trees throughout New York City’s five boroughs by 2015.
About New York Restoration Project
New York Restoration Project (NYRP) is a non-profit organization driven by the conviction that all New Yorkers deserve beautiful, high-quality public space within ready walking distance of their homes. Since our founding in 1995 by Bette Midler, NYRP has planted trees, renovated gardens, restored parks, and transformed open space for communities throughout New York City’s five boroughs. As New York’s only citywide conservancy, we bring private resources to spaces that lack adequate municipal support, fortifying the City’s aging infrastructure and creating a healthier environment for those who live in the most densely populated and least green neighborhoods.
