NEXCOM Combines In-Vehicle Telematics, Infotainment and Surveillance Into One Robust Solution
Fremont, CA (PRWEB) April 30, 2014 -- NEXCOM has released the in-vehicle computer VTC 6210 to keep drivers and passengers informed, entertained and safe. The VTC 6210 based on quad-core Intel® Atom™ E3845 processor is well-packed with on-board diagnostics interfaces, flexible wireless expansion and user-defined action features to bring fleet telematics, passenger infotainment and in-vehicle surveillance on board to commuter shuttles, long distance coaches and fleet vehicles.
The in-vehicle computer features built-in GPS and CAN bus interface, with optional OBD II support, in order to provide GPS navigation and route optimization for drivers and to help dispatchers track and diagnose vehicle status to improve fuel efficiency or take preventive maintenance actions.
VTC 6210's tri-SIM-four-module configuration makes it ideal for telematics applications. To offer fast, strong and economical wireless connections for real-time data feed, the VTC 6210 supports two 3G/LTE connections simultaneously and can double the data rate for faster transmission, switch carriers for a better signal and avoid roaming charges on cross-border journeys. Further, the VTC 6210 can also provide Wi-Fi connection for off-hours system update.
Additionally, the in-vehicle computer can be used for passenger infotainment, including on-board Wi-Fi, on-demand videos and location-based information. Using swappable HDDs, the vibration-proof VTC 6210 can provide high capacity storage at a lower cost, storing a wide variety and high volume of multimedia content and even surveillance footage if configured with security cameras.
In case of emergency or an accident, the VTC 6210 is equipped with rich interfaces to take user-defined actions. The VTC 6210 has one event button for driver's use and two DI and DO to monitor environmental events and take action even if the device is shut down. The eight channels of programmable GPIOs are also integrated onto the VTC 6210. It also provides regulated 12V power output to eliminate the need of standalone power adapter for the peripheral devices.
