Next Artichoke Lecture Series discussion explores "The Quest for Truth" Feb. 19 in Turquoise Room
(PRWEB) February 14, 2015 -- Scottsdale Community College will host a public lecture titled "The Quest for Truth," featuring SCC faculty member Mark Valle, Ph.D. The Feb. 19 talk, which is free to attend and open to the public, is the second in the Artichoke Lecture Series launched last fall.
Valle, who earned a Ph.D. in philosophy from Arizona State University, will discuss patterns of reasoning and mistakes to avoid in argumentation as one searches for the truth.
Valle's primary intellectual interests include arguments for and against God's existence and comparing world religions.
SCC faculty member Mark Klobas, Ph.D., started the lecture series last fall as part of a community outreach effort. The lecture topics hope to encourage intellectual stimulation and satisfy curiosity.
SCC faculty members in the Social and Behavioral Science Department are the featured lecturers. The remaining topics will cover "Archaeology and the Bible: Recent Excavations in the Holy Land" (March 25) and "Winston Churchill and World War I" (April 6).
