Madrid, Spain (PRWEB) May 20, 2015 -- NEXT Biometrics Group ASA (OAX: NEXT) today announced that the Carlos III University of Madrid has published the final full version of the “Madrid Report” that proves NEXT fingerprint sensors performed critically superior to smaller sensors of the leading competitors and that fingerprint sensor accuracy is directly connected to the size of sensors used in smartphones, PCs and other devices.
Conducted under rigorous scientific conditions, the study is a first of its kind 180,000 fingerprints test that compared the three market leading fingerprint sensors.
Tore Etholm-Idsoe, CEO of NEXT Biometrics, said, “Laws of nature apply in fingerprinting. A small sensor will only capture a small image containing a small number of time constant data. Adding real life complexities like wet, dirty or worn fingers further adds to the everyday challenges resulting in poor user experience and low security levels.”
NEXT Biometrics is the leader in low-cost fingerprint sensors that combine robust large sensor areas with the best price in the industry.
The NEXT CEO added, “The study shows that sensor size is the key factor in fingerprint sensor accuracy. Our fingerprint sensor industry is trending from simple uses such as to unlock phones toward more serious uses such as payments, cloud- and corporate access applications. Going forward, NEXT will also support initiatives of specification standardizations. Such standards and third party verification of sensor supplier marketing claims are important for the long-term success of our industry.”
The “Madrid Report” study was initiated by Norwegian sensor producer NEXT Biometrics, the study was independently conducted by Professor Raul Sanchez-Reillo at the University, which is a highly-respected biometrics industry resource.
