Next Exit History™ Launches Summer Road Trip Through America’s National Parks
Pensacola, FL (PRWEB) July 09, 2015 -- NEH launched a 28-day summer road trip on July 8, 2015, in collaboration with a class of students at the University of West Florida (UWF), to visit America’s national parks. The class will travel through 10 states and visit over 30 parks, while working with rangers, interpreters, wildlife experts, and environmental managers, to collect, curate, and produce content from each destination. Students will have a unique opportunity to create content for NEH’s newest feature that enable travelers to play interactive “History Hunter”games revealing new insights and discoveries during their explorations. The goal is to encourage all generations to actively explore and fully immerse themselves in the incredible natural wonders in their own backyards. The exploration is in preparation for the 2016 centennial of the National Park Service.
“Next Exit History is excited to embark on a summer road trip through America’s greatest treasures – her national parks,” said NEH Project Director, David Strohmaier. “When we created the Next Exit History app, we set out to harness the power of technology to promote learning and understanding of our historic places. We aim to produce interactive content that excites and inspires travelers about our national parks and to help them more fully live the American experience.”
“I am thrilled to be a part of Next Exit History’s summer road trip” said UWF student Michelle Richoll. “I feel like I’m following in the footsteps of Lewis and Clark and embarking on our own modern-day expedition to see and capture the wonders of our national parks. I look forward to preserving and sharing that experience through mobile technology and helping travelers – and especially new explorers like me – appreciate what’s at stake in protecting our country’s heritage.”
