NextAdvisor.com Releases Reviews of Top Website Building Services
Burlingame, CA (PRWEB) December 15, 2015 -- NextAdvisor.com, a leading consumer and small business information website, reveals a new category of services with its website building reviews. Though the company reviews web hosting services, this is the first time it has tested website builders. The purpose of this test was to provide a first-hand look at 10 of the most well-known website building services and see how each stacks up against one another in terms of creating your own website, based on both basic and advanced features. The test explored things such as customization tools, design templates, SEO, e-commerce, storage, bandwidth and mobile optimization, and included both free services and premium paid services.
Are free services less comprehensive than the paid services? Not necessarily. The results ranked GoDaddy WebBuilder (a paid service) and Wix (a free service) at the top of the list, each with the same 5-star rating. What made these two website builders the top contenders? Both give users an unlimited number of pages for their websites, and both automatically include a mobile-friendly version of the website. “We were surprised to see that these features weren’t common when compared to other website builders, especially since mobile optimization is vital in the Digital Era,” said NextAdvisor.com writer Jessa Barron. Additionally, both GoDaddy WebBuilder and Wix feature easy-to-use, modern templates for your website and provide users with some of the most advanced editing tools and features. Other services NextAdvisor.com reviewed include SquareSpace, Weebly, Yola, Jimdo, Voog, Web.com, WebStarts and Lunarpages.
How were website building services tested?
To test these website building services out effectively, NextAdvisor.com signed up with each service to create a website for a mock coffee shop by selecting the "restaurant" category for design choices; this was to keep things consistent and ensure that each service could be compared equally. Most had an option for coffee shops and cafes specifically, but some just had a general restaurant template to choose. After this, testers began to customize the premade template using the website builder's editing tools for adding text, photos, videos, headers and footers, menus, contact forms and social media links. Some of the services offered extremely extensive tools for editing, while others were quite lacking.
While the website building tools were a major part of these reviews, they weren't the only aspect taken into consideration. NextAdvisor.com also compared prices and reviewed the quality of customer service with each of these website building companies. Another factor that played a big role in this test was the aesthetic appeal of the website builder's own websites. After all, why trust a company to help you build an eye-catching website if it can't even make one for itself? “While some of these services have really impressive sites, we were rather surprised to find that others look rather dated and aren’t very user-friendly, which isn’t good considering they’re website building services,” said Barron.
