Nexus Conference Reveals the Real Condition of Cuba's Internet
New York City, New York (PRWEB) April 24, 2015 -- The condition of the Internet in Cuba is certain to have an outsized influence on the future direction of US – Cuba technology investment, as well as engagement with Cuban citizens, the vast majority of whom still do not have Internet access in their homes. The overwhelming focus on normalization of relations with the United States during the last few months has thus far failed to adequately examine the state of Cuba’s Internet infrastructure.
Nexus 2015, which takes place in New York City on April 30, 2015, is among the first conferences to devote significant attention to the ICT situation in Cuba. The conference offers a business-minded approach to the facts and real 'on the ground' challenges present in Cuba. The centerpiece of this analysis will be a special Q/A session with Doug Madory, a leading Internet expert from Dyn, who has been hailed by the Washington Post as “the man who can see the Internet.” Madory and Dyn monitor Internet traffic in order to gauge trends, and forecast how networks can be connected and optimized.
The special session, "Evaluating the Real State of Cuba’s Internet and ICT Infrastructure,” is one of many noteworthy sessions at Nexus, which is celebrating its fifth-year of operation.
“Cuba’s emergence on the Latin America stage is stirring a tremendous amount of intrigue and interest. Doug’s talk will clear up a lot of confusion and expose the real facts around Cuba's capacity to support ICT businesses,” says Kirk Laughlin, founder and managing director of Next Coast Media, the media and research group that is organizing the conference. “Quality Internet is an obligatory cornerstone to successful nearshore partnerships. Some of that understanding is missing in the recent, overheated enthusiasm about Cuba’s opening.”
