Nexusguard is Now a Participating Organization of the PCI SSC
San Jose (PRWEB) October 30, 2013 -- Adobe’s security breach earlier this month compromised nearly three million customer’s accounts. Among the stolen data are IDs, passwords and credit card information. In the online world, trusting a company with such information is common, but not as secure as most may think. As the increasing number of high-profile security breaches raises awareness for data security, more organizations now actively seek to achieve compliance with the Payment Card Industry (PCI) Data Security Standard (DSS), which is released by the PCI Security Standards Council (SSC).
The PCI DSS aims to increase the security of cardholder data by requiring organizations that process cardholder data to adhere to a set of guidelines. Its scope covers application security, network security, encryption implementation and more.
Nexusguard is proud to announce that it is now a Participating Organization of the PCI SSC. As a Participating Organization, Nexusguard is now able to nominate Participating Organization representatives to stand for elections—as well as vote for a representative—on the PCI SSC Board of Advisors, attend community meetings, and recommend new initiatives for consideration. In addition, Nexusguard can now drive PCI SSC Special Interest Groups, which provide the PCI SSC with understanding and guidance on particular topics or technologies—and recommend changes, clarifications or improvements to the PCI DSS and the programs that support the DSS.
Nexusguard is also able to review standards and supporting materials prior to their release, which means customers—especially those involved in payment processing—can be even more confident in Nexusguard’s industry-leading DDoS mitigation and Internet security services.
The PCI SSC (Payment Card Industry Security Standards Council) was founded by American Express, Discover Financial Services, JCB International, MasterCard Worldwide, and Visa Inc. Its goal is to increase the security of credit card payments worldwide through a set of requirements for the transmission, processing and storage of cardholder data.
