NFL Strength & Conditioning Coaches Honor Dolphins’ Krein, Seahawks’ Carlisle and Dave Redding
Indianapolis, NFL Scouting Combine (PRWEB) February 21, 2014 -- The NFL Strength and Conditioning Coaches honored Darren Krein (Miami Dolphins), Chris Carlisle (Seattle Seahawks) and Dave Redding during their annual banquet at the NFL Scouting Combine in Indianapolis on February 19th. Darren Krein of the Dolphins was voted the NFL Strength and Conditioning Coach of the Year, Chris Carlisle of the Seattle Seahawks accepted the Champion’s Award and Dave Redding was presented with their Lifetime Achievement Award.
Darren Krein, NFL Strength and Conditioning Coach of the Year has been on both sides of the bench. The 4 year letterman from the University of Miami was a unanimous first-team All-Big East selection, and a 5th round draft pick for the San Diego Chargers. After finishing his playing career with Green Bay, Krein moved to the coaching side of the game, working with the Seattle Seahawks before becoming the Head Strength and Conditioning Coach for the Miami Dolphins in 2011. Krein’s Dolphin program is known for it’s balanced, holistic approach to Strength and Conditioning.
Chris Carlisle of the Seattle Seahawks has won battles both on and off the field. Beginning his career as the Associate Strength and Conditioning Coach for the University of Tennessee he moved to the Head Strength and Conditioning position at USC in 2001, the year he also beat cancer. After 9 years with USC he joined the Seattle Seahawks in 2010, and established “the Seahawks way” of Strength and Conditioning; clearly the Seahawk’s way works.
The recipient of the Lifetime Achievement Award, Dave Redding, likes firsts. He was the first Strength and Conditioning Coach at the University of Missouri, the first S & C Coach at Washington State, and the first Strength and Conditioning Coach for the Cleveland Browns. “Red Man” as he is known by his peers, spent 24 seasons in the NFL starting his career with the Cleveland Browns (’82-88). He then continued his work with Kansas City (’89-98), Washington (2001), and San Diego (’02-’06). Prior to his 2011 retirement he was Strength & Conditioning Coordinator and then Assistant S & C coach for the Green Bay Packers and was part of a staff that helped guide the Packers to a Super Bowl XLV title. The recipient of the NFL Strength and Conditioning 2006 Coach of the Year he is also a member of USA Strength and Conditioning Coaches Hall of Fame.
