NHTSA to join Michigan and Nevada DMVs to Discuss Autonomous Car Regulations at TU-Automotive Detroit 2016
London, UK (PRWEB) April 01, 2016 -- In the wake of a $4 billion pledge from the federal government for the development of driverless cars and the infrastructure to support them, Penton's TU-Automotive has added a keynote panel session to TU-Automotive Detroit 2016 on how guidelines and regulations can keep pace with the incredible pace of vehicle automation. Panellists including Jude Hurin, DMV Administrator at the Nevada Department of Motor Vehicles and James Fackler, Assistant Administrator at the Michigan Department of State will discuss how state DMVs are working alongside the Department of Transport and NHTSA to rollout national regulations that remove red-tape and inconsistent guidelines that threaten the future of the self-driving car in the US. The panel session will finish with a special focus on the insurance and law enforcement repercussions of driverless vehicles that are certain to become a critical issue in years to come.
Jack Palmer, Project Director for the event commented, “This keynote panel session is sandwiched between the marquee speeches of the President of Zipcar, Kaye Ceille and General Motors’ Chief Product Cybersecurity Officer, Jeffrey Massimilla. It will serve as a fantastic update on the initiatives that the state and federal governments are putting in place to encourage the development of self-driving cars”.
These headline speeches are a part of the 75+ sessions taking place over June 8-9 in Novi, Michigan for TU-Automotive Detroit 2016 – the world’s largest conference & exhibition dedicated to innovation in automotive technology, covering connected cars, autonomy and mobility.
Over 3,000 executives will attend for the 16th annual event to hear from over 150 speakers and explore 300 booths on the exhibition floor, spanning more than 200,000 sq ft.
Industry leaders and disruptors from Audi, Panasonic, Fiat Chrysler Automobiles, Amazon, Ford and more will lay out their visions for the future of the car in the digital society as automotive draws the eyes of industries, governments and consumers worldwide.
