Austin, TX (PRWEB) February 25, 2014 -- On Sunday, February 16, the 2014 Austin ADDY Awards, hosted by the Austin Advertising Federation, took place at ACL Live at the Moody Theater to celebrate the finest creative minds in Austin, Texas. Austin-based creative agency, Greatest Common Factory, produced the ADDYs this year and raised the bar of award show excellence when they got Nick Offerman, star of NBC's "Parks & Recreation", to emcee the show. Days later the event is still being hailed as one of the most entertaining and spectacular events of the season.
Offerman’s stand-up routine poked fun of the advertising industry and inanimate objects in the room. His love for Texas and the city of Austin also created fodder for the popular comedian. Offerman’s wife, Megan Mullally (“Will and Grace”) and her bandmate, Stephanie Hunt (“Friday Night Lights”, “Californication”) brought the house down with their act, “Nancy and Beth”, made up almost entirely of Austin musicians.
This year’s awards presentation was voiced by a man with a deep, raspy voice prompting audience members to ask, “Is that Morgan Freeman?” And an interactive element was added asking the crowd to act when certain brands were showcased.
Award recipients received gold, silver and bronze statues, and Nick Offerman bobble heads were handed out to Best in Show winners. Awards in the following categories were also given: Broadcast, Integrated Campaigns, Print, Microsite and Digital. In all, 26 gold, 18 silver and 19 bronze statues were distributed. Taking home the most awards were McGarrah Jessee and GSD&M.
Named the “American Advertising Federation – Division 1 Club of the Year” for the past four years, the Austin Ad Federation each year holds the Austin ADDYs event which recognize and reward creative excellence in the art of advertising.
