TEL AVIV, Israel (PRWEB) January 09, 2015 -- “Being a clinical psychologist, personality diagnosis is an integral part of my work and treatment,” explains psychotherapist Nira Kfir, author of “Personality & Priorities: A Typology” (published by AuthorHouse) and director of Maagalim, in Tel Aviv, Israel. “Drawing upon years of experience working with diverse clients and training students around the world led to my developing of the Personality & Priorities system.” Now, for the first time, this system has been codified into a book that will be widely available in paper and electronic versions. “Personality & Priorities,” which will receive a new marketing campaign in 2015, is Dr. Kfir’s innovative contribution to the understanding of personality.
This system is a typological and treatment model that helps therapists understand clients quickly. They can then aid their clients reach self-understanding and self-acceptance and recognize the price they pay for their chosen priority and behavioral strategies.
“Personality & Priorities” offers a general blueprint of social behavior. The key concept is the Impasse. Impasses are roadblocks that evolve from childhood and impede or limit the child’s social development and movement in life. They develop out of a coalescence of unpleasant or painful interpersonal experiences that signify non significance and non belonging to the child.
Kfir identifies four Priorities: the Superior, the Pleaser, the Controller and the Avoider. All four are present in everyone’s behavior repertoire in varying degrees. However, one of the priorities is pre-eminent, and the others are subordinated to it. The individual, seeking to avoid the Impasse, uses the priorities to create an interpersonal life strategy that will preserve the feeling of belonging and a significant existence. Characteristics of each of the priorities are fully elaborated using case studies and therapeutic approaches.
“Personality & Priorities” can be highly beneficial to psychologists, psychotherapists, social workers and counselors and offers important insights to understanding behavior to teachers and managers.
