NJ Sharing Network Offers Once-In-A-Lifetime Chance to Play Historic Baltusrol Golf Course
New Providence, NJ (PRWEB) September 24, 2013 -- Many golfers have dreamed of playing the prestigious greens at Baltusrol Golf Club in Springfield, home to the 2016 PGA Championship, but few have. Baltusrol is one of the most exclusive golf clubs in the country.
NJ Sharing Network, the non-profit agency responsible for the recovery of organs and tissue in North and Central New Jersey, will make dreams come true for avid golfers at its15th Annual Golf and Tennis Classic at Baltusrol Golf Club on October 7.
“Moving our golf and tennis classic to Baltusrol Golf Club is big news for golfers throughout the tri-state area,” said Joe Roth, president and CEO of NJ Sharing Network. “Baltusrol’s illustrious history and sought-after course will make this one of our best classics ever. This is without a doubt one of the hottest tickets in town and the event supports a life-saving cause.”
Baltusrol, which dates back to 1895, has hosted seven US Opens and one PGA Championship.
Tennis matches will take place at the beautiful nearby Centercourt Athletic Club in Chatham. Shuttles for tennis will be provided.
Funds raised from the event support the NJ Sharing Network Foundation, the philanthropic arm of NJ Sharing Network and NJ Sharing Network’s mission to save and enhance lives through organ and tissue donation. More than 5,000 people in New Jersey are awaiting life-saving organ transplants.
Morristown resident Lenore Ford is excited to play the famed Baltusrol course, but for personal reasons. Her late husband, William, received two liver transplants, adding years to his life before he died in 1994.
“When I started volunteering nearly 20 years ago 42,000 people in our country were waiting for organs,” said Ford, who co-chairs this year’s golf and tennis classic. “Today that number is almost 120,000. We need to educate people about the life-saving value of donation. Every transplant saves a life and is a miracle.”
Also co-chair is Lisa Meyers of Summit. Her daughter, Sarah, was born with a liver disease that would eventually lead to a liver transplant. Lisa’s daughter received that life-saving transplant in 2007.
“We believe deeply in spreading the word about organ and tissue donation and transplantation. This event will help us educate people that lives truly can be saved,” Meyers said.
The schedule for the day follows:
9:00 AM Registration and Brunch
11:30 AM Shotgun Start
12:15 PM Tennis Tournament
5:00 PM Reception and Awards Dinner
