NJCAA Adopts Select Sport America as Official Soccer Ball
Colorado Springs, CO (PRWEB) April 09, 2015 -- The NJCAA – the governing association of two-year college athletics - announced today a five-year corporate sponsorship agreement with Select Sport America. The deal earns Select the title of “Official Soccer Ball of the NJCAA”. The second-largest intercollegiate association in the nation, the NJCAA currently features over 400 men’s and women’s soccer programs competing in four separate divisions.
Per terms of the agreement, all soccer-playing member colleges of the NJCAA will adopt and use the Select Super or Brilliant Super match ball during the regular season. The membership-wide adoption of the official ball of the NJCAA is unprecedented in the organization’s 77 year history. In addition, the Select Super match ball will be used exclusively in the postseason – including the NJCAA’s four soccer national championship tournaments.
NJCAA soccer programs will be provided exclusive pricing packages on both match and practice balls from the Select product line. The deal, which runs through the fall of 2019, also provides Select brand exposure through NJCAA marketing and media outlets and on-site presence at national championships.
“The NJCAA is thrilled to welcome Select as the official soccer ball of the NJCAA,” said Mark Krug, assistant executive director of the NJCAA. “Select has set the industry standard in quality and performance in the sport of soccer. A membership-wide adoption of the official ball for the association has never been done before, so the fact that Select was the first to be given this opportunity speaks volumes to the quality and reputation of their products. We are confident our coaches and student-athletes are going to be very pleased with our affiliation with Select.”
“We are very excited and grateful to be chosen as the supplier of the Official Soccer Ball of the NJCAA for the next five years,” said Lars Nielsen, President of Select Sport America. “We also believe strongly in the quality of our product and hope that the SELECT Soccer Balls will contribute in enhancing the game and skills for the NJCAA athletes.”
Select traces its origins back to 1947 when it was founded by then-Danish national soccer team’s goalkeeper Eigil Nielsen. The company revolutionized the soccer ball, introducing the current 32-panel construction in 1962. A recent wind tunnel test by the Institute of Health & Sports Sciences at the University of Tsukuba in Japan concluded that Select’s hand sewn 32-panel construction still makes the best soccer ball.
Select produces more than 3.5 million balls each year that are exported to more than 50 different countries. The balls are hand sewn and all match balls meet the international match standards set by FIFA, IMS and NFHS.
