NKU Chase Federalist Society to Host U.S. Sen. Rand Paul on Nov. 21
HIGHLAND HEIGHTS, KY (PRWEB) November 20, 2014 -- The Northern Kentucky University Chase College of Law chapter of The Federalist Society for Law and Public Policy Studies will host a law student forum with United States Senator Rand Paul on Nov. 21, 2014, from 3:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. on campus in Highland Heights, Ky. The presentation is open to the community and media, but questions are reserved only for law students. Registration is required as space is limited.
The Federalist Society for Law and Public Policy Studies is “founded on the principles that the state exists to preserve freedom, that the separation of governmental powers is central to our Constitution, and that it is emphatically the province and duty of the judiciary to say what the law is, not what it should be.” One of the chapter’s missions is to bring the most current and noteworthy speakers to NKU Chase to promote an awareness of these principles and to further their application through the chapter’s activities.
Sen. Paul’s invitation to speak at NKU Chase was initiated by chapter President Jordan Morgan, who completed a 2013 internship for Sen. Paul in Washington D.C. “Senator Paul’s filibuster captured the country’s attention because it was a principled argument about the nature of our government’s policies toward its citizens that few public figures have been willing to confront,” Jordan commented. “He continues to demand that the rights guaranteed by the Constitution be respected. We are grateful to Senator Paul for speaking on campus, because his commitment to raising these important legal issues is one that is shared by The Federalist Society.” Sen. Paul had been scheduled to speak at NKU Chase in February, but the event was cancelled due to inclement weather.
