NMS Properties Gets Physical with Santa Monica Heal the Bay
Santa Monica, Ca (PRWEB) October 24, 2013 -- On the unusually hot morning of Wednesday, October 16th, the corporate office of NMS Properties, Inc. headed away from the confines of their offices, and towards the beaches of Santa Monica.
NMS Properties, a property management company that also develops multi-residential and mixed use Los Angeles apartment buildings, is located predominantly in the Santa Monica area. There are currently 40 buildings in the NMS Properties portfolio, spread out over the San Fernando Valley and the Westside. Two of these Los Angeles apartment buildings in Culver City and West Hollywood are currently under construction.
“We were looking for a way to give back to the community and also encourage local social responsibility within the company,” says Penny Lane Emerson, Marketing Manager. “We do sponsor many local events not-for-profits, but we also believe in physically being involved to help out the community as well.”
Participating in the Santa Monica Heal the Bay’s One Time Beach Cleanup program, 19 members from the NMS Properties development, and accounting, marketing and administrative teams took to the sand, near lifeguard stand 1550, from 10am until close to noon. The group was joined by one of the two owners of NMS Properties.
Together, the group filled up no less than 20 bags of trash and waste that littered the sand and shore.
“We found broken glass, lots of whole bottles, toys and tons of cigarette butts. One person even found part of a melted stovetop!” said Penny Lane. “It was very eye opening for everyone involved to see just how much debris can accumulate in such a small area of the beach. We want to do this again in the near future.”
NMS Properties, Inc. is looking forward to their next hands-on volunteer opportunity, a company and community-wide blood drive with the Red Cross in Santa Monica on November 22nd.
