No Limits Software Announces Integration of Cisco UCS Manager into Their RaMP DCIM Solution
St. Louis, MO (PRWEB) July 14, 2015 -- The RaMP Data Center Infrastructure Management (DCIM) solution from No Limits Software now provides auto-discovery and monitoring of Cisco UCS servers and fabric components through Cisco UCS Manager.
Cisco Unified Computing System (UCS) Manager provides unified, embedded management of all software and hardware components in the Cisco UCS. Using SingleConnect Technology it controls multiple chassis and manages resources for thousands of virtual machines. Cisco SingleConnect unifies LAN, SAN, and systems management into one simplified link for rack servers, blade servers, and virtual machines.
By integrating with UCS Manager, RaMP can auto-discover detailed information about all UCS components, providing RaMP users with a single platform to manage all Cisco devices – including rack servers, blade servers, virtual machines, and network equipment – as well as managing non-Cisco assets, power, cooling, and energy efficiency in the data center. RaMP, one of the industry’s most comprehensive DCIM solutions for managing both the IT and Facilities equipment in the data center, uses a wide range of network-enabled protocols, including IPMI, SNMP, Modbus, BACnet, WMI, iLO, and others, to auto-discover and collect real-time data from UPSs, PDUs, rack PDUs, cooling equipment, network devices, and servers (both physical and virtual). “By adding support for Cisco UCS to RaMP’s capabilities, we can now extend RaMP to Cisco UCS servers and fabric components,” said Dave Cole, president of No Limits Software. “While other DCIM solutions support Cisco UCS, RaMP is the first to fully integrate UCS Manager into the full auto-discovery and automated change management process,” he added.
RaMP’s ability to auto-discover both IT and facilities equipment greatly reduces the time and cost for setup as well as significantly increasing the accuracy of the data. RaMP’s automated change management can also detect changes such as firmware and operating system upgrades, software installation, hardware modifications, and even network cable moves. All changes to software and hardware components in the Cisco UCS will now be reflected in RaMP’s automated change management.
The RaMP solution provides the following benefits:
• Auto-discovery of detailed information for both IT and facilities equipment
• Power and environmental monitoring down to the device level
• Server and virtual server monitoring
• Automated change control to reduce MTTR and increase availability
• Web services API for integration with other systems
• PUE, DCiE and CADE energy management calculations
• Accurate capacity planning data to help reduce stranded power and shutdown risks
• Device type roll-up views for an easy way to quickly compare device performance
• Workflow and task management
