Nonprofit Organization Challenges Men to ‘Be there for the moments that matter’ during Men’s Health Month 2015.
Washington, DC (PRWEB) June 04, 2015 -- “We’re about men taking responsibility for themselves and partnering with others to be responsible for our collective future. Taking responsibility for our health is a fundamental step.” says Boysen Hodgson, Communications Director for the national ManKind Project organization.
This is the fourth year that the nonprofit has participated in men’s health month activities and is sending information to its membership to encourage men to get routine screenings and make changes for their health.
“Really, it’s about being there for the moments that matter,” said Hodgson, “and I know that for me, staying healthy is part of my commitment to being present for my kids and my wife.”
The ManKind Project USA’s mission statement is MKP USA creates a world where men act on their individual and shared responsibility for the future of humanity by initiating and supporting men on a path of emotional maturity, spiritual awareness and deepening community.

The well recognized links between physical well-being and emotional health play a role in the way the ManKind Project mentors and supports men in their training programs and men’s groups. MKP USA’s commitment to men’s personal growth includes a focus on men creating balance and health in multiple areas of their lives; including their physical, emotional, intellectual, and spiritual well-being.
In peer facilitated support groups run by the ManKind Project across the country, many men set and report on health goals with one another as a regular part of their men’s group process. The work has been shown to have a significant positive impact in men’s lives on social and emotional outlook in a number of peer reviewed studies.
Dr. David Gruder, author of “The New IQ: How Integrity Intelligence Serves You, Your Relationships and Our World,” said, “MKP has personally taught me more about how to step into mature masculinity than any other single influence in my life. That is a big admission for a psychologist to make.”
