North Shore Eye Care to Host The 12th Semi-Annual Symposium For Optometrists Across New York and Long Island
Smithtown, New York (PRWEB) June 08, 2016 -- Surgeons from North Shore Eye Care will lecture on the latest breakthroughs in the treatment and diagnosis of the most common vision-threatening eye conditions at the upcoming 12th Semi-Annual Continuing Education Symposium, according to leading eye surgeon, Jeffrey Martin, MD, FACS, managing partner at North Shore Eye Care, host of this semi-annual continuing education event.
“Hosting these continuing education symposiums for our primary eye care practitioners is always a highlight for the entire medical staff at North Shore Eye Care,” said Dr. Martin. “We embrace this educational opportunity with passion and enjoy the opportunity to catch up with our optometric colleagues to discuss the latest breakthroughs in treatment in our respective fields.”
During its 50+ years history, North Shore Eye Care has served as a trusted leader in optometric co-management and continuing education for many of the leading primary eye care practices in the northeast. This semi-annual joint meeting between the optometric community and leaders in ophthalmology has become one of the premiere optometric events on Long Island.
The Huntington Hilton will host this year’s symposium on Sunday, June 5th in Melville, NY. Lectures on the genetics and family history of glaucoma development, managing post-operative cataract surgery patients, lectures on advances in cataract care, retinal disease and cornea-related issue like ectasia are included in the symposium. Annual lecturer Lawrence Buono, MD, FACS will be returning for this year’s symposium, as will Brett Rosenblatt, MD and Andrew Bainnson, MD. Other speakers on faculty this year include Paul Sforza, MD speaking on the diagnosis and management of corneal ectasia and Faye Knoll, MD lecturing on the diagnosis and treatment of a common eye disease known as red eye. Craig Marcus, MD will lecture on the latest surgical breakthroughs in glaucoma and Dr. Rosenblatt will discuss retinal manifestations of systemic disease.
“Every member of our rapidly expanding North Shore Eye Care team are extremely proud of the continued growth of this prestigious continuing education symposium,” Dr. Martin said. “We have always worked in concert with our primary eye care community and today remain more committed than ever to providing our optometric partners a professional and convenient way to earn their Continuing Education credits each year.”
“These courses are not only an excellent opportunity for optometrists to earn their required Continuing Education credits each year, but also for us to share the latest breakthroughs in cataract removal and lens implantation, macular & retinal disease treatments, laser vision correction techniques, managing glaucoma and triaging infectious or inflammatory eye conditions,” said Dr. Martin.
“Our goal with these symposiums is to help provide patients a seamless quality of care provided by optometrists and ophthalmologists,” Dr. Martin said, adding “and to ensure that Long Island residents have access to the same advanced eye care found in major medical centers.”
