Northeast Delta HSA Awarded Seed Grant to Implement Delta Solutions Summit
Monroe, LA (PRWEB) April 24, 2015 -- Northeast Delta Human Services Authority (NE Delta HSA) has been awarded a 2015 Seed Grant by Magellan of Louisiana to implement its Delta Solutions Summit in fall 2015. This seed grant is intended to advance critical services and increase linkages among various health and human services sectors. The summit will identify methods to further unite the continuum of care and improve access among the rural communities of northeastern Louisiana.
“We will be calling on leaders throughout our region to work with us and help forge a vision toward some of our region’s greatest challenges,” said Dr. Monteic A. Sizer, NE Delta HSA Executive Director. “Even with significant cuts in state budgets, we must find innovative ways to continue the important work of ensuring that our citizens have access to the care they need and realize the healthiest lives possible.”
“Together, we will identify specific issues and action items on which to focus, then report back with tangible evidence of our work,” said Dr. Sizer. “Our goal is to further improve regional outcomes for our citizens in the behavioral & primary healthcare and developmental disability arenas.”
Summit content will include informational sessions on the topics of managed care and rural behavioral & primary healthcare integration, along with a workshop discussing the economic impact of healthcare integration. NE Delta HSA will also collect and analyze data from the summit's activities and outcomes. This will enable summit participants to identify specific improvements and more efficiently realize goals on behalf of regional citizens.
Some areas of focus at the summit will include:
• Identification of additional community resources that foster resiliency
• Proposing and sharing best practices for home, school, workplace and communities to participate in improving coordinated care
• The economic impact of working collaboratively to bridge social systems
Deepening the understanding of stigma, cultural norms, ethnic challenges, fragmented systems and coordination of resources helps communities, especially rural areas, develop a holistic approach to treating and supporting recovery.
