Northwest Embroidery’s “Ugly Jacket Buyback” Promotion a Big Success
Milton, WA (PRWEB) December 04, 2014 -- As a lighthearted way to promote its new custom embroidered Nike and OGIO jackets, the company offered a cash reward for all jackets donated to its Milton, WA headquarters throughout the months of October and November. The promotion proved to be successful, with over 150 jackets collected for donation the Salvation Army. Jackets brought in person were exchanged for $5.00 in cash.
Donations were sorted into three bins, depending on their amount of wear and tear (ugliness). Clean jackets with minimal wear were classified as “Sorta Ugly” and “Pretty Darn Ugly”, making them fit for donation. Jackets which were heavily soiled, torn, or outright unwearable were dropped into the last bin, appropriately named “OMG Ugly”. Over 200 jackets were collected, with only 50 having been deemed “OMG Ugly”. These jackets were thrown away, with the company’s tongue-in-cheek declaration of “preventing any further fashion hazards.”
Some of the more interesting donations were a suede overcoat, complete with fluffy wool collar and a 30 year old ski jacket with neon pink and yellow accents. One donation which easily stood out from the rest was a nearly brand-new leather motorcycle jacket, dropped off because the owner said it did not fit him and he did not have the receipt to return it to the store it was originally purchased. Because of its great condition, Northwest Embroidery has decided to sell it through an online auction and to donate the proceeds, rather than simply give away the jacket itself.
Visitors who dropped off jackets in person were encouraged to try on some of the new Nike and OGIO jacket samples on display in the company’s showroom, just in time for the upcoming holiday gift-giving season. New pieces, including waterproof softshell jackets and lightweight pullovers are not only modern and stylish, but can all be customized with embroidered logos right in Northwest Embroidery’s local factory.
