Prior to joining Northwood Dental, Dr. Karunagaran served as an assistant professor of clinical dentistry at a multi-clinic facility in central Washington. In this role, Dr. Karunagaran was responsible for treating a diverse group of patients in addition to teaching new dentists how to place dental implants. During this period, Dr. Karunagaran also worked as an affiliate faculty member at the Oregon Health and Science University’s School of Dentistry and the University of Washington’s School of Dentistry.
Following his graduation from dental school in Chennai, South India in 2001, Dr. Karunagaran continued his education at the State University at Buffalo where he earned a Master’s Degree in biomaterials. He completed two additional years of hospital based, advanced general dentistry training with a special focus on oral surgery at Louisiana State University in New Orleans. More recently, Dr. Karunagaran completed two years of postgraduate training in implant dentistry at the University of Alabama at Birmingham.
Dr. Karunagaran currently holds fellowship status in the Academy of General Dentistry (AGD), which requires a minimum of 500 approved continuing education hours. At present, he is working towards his Mastership.
