The case surrounds 66-year-old Noriko Uno, who died after her 2006 Camry suddenly accelerated to speeds of about 100 mph on a residential street. Her vehicle struck a telephone pole and a tree as she struggled in vain to get it under control.
Toyota asserts that there are no defects associated with the Camry models in question, according to NBC. The automaker blames the incidents on driver error, stuck accelerators and floor mats that become wedged beneath the gas pedal.
