Novel mGlu8-selective antagonist MDCPG launched by Hello Bio
Bristol, UK (PRWEB UK) 9 December 2014 -- mGlu8 is a Group III glutamate receptor that has been implicated in a number of conditions such as epilepsy and anxiety. However, to date, there have been no commercially available mGlu8 selective antagonists and this has hampered research into this receptor and its function. A paper published in the journal Neuropharmacology by Dr Zuner Bortolotto and his colleagues at the MRC Centre for Synaptic Plasticity at Bristol University describes the mGlu8 selective actions of MDCPG. This chemical tool was shown to antagonize the effects of mGlu8-selective DCPG concentrations in a neuronal assay. Hello Bio announced today that this exciting new tool is the latest addition to their glutamate receptor tools range.
