NPE 2015: DuPont Brings Advanced Materials to Challenges in the Plastics Industry
Wilmington, Del. (PRWEB) March 12, 2015 -- DuPont Packaging & Industrial Polymers (P&IP) and DuPont Performance Polymers (DPP) are hosting presentations and panels at NPE 2015: The International Plastics Showcase in room W207A, March 23 – 27 in Orlando, Fla.
P&IP will host technical experts in panel discussions and presentations that focus on advances in packaging and industrial polymers, puncture-resistance packaging, golf ball performance and nylon modification. P&IP also is hosting a recycling panel discussion with partner companies.
DPP will engage customers in conversations about how new polymer materials can be used to develop lightweight automotive components, design high-performance, drug-delivery devices that are discrete and cost effective and showcase how collaboration drives innovation.
“Our approach to this year’s NPE event mirrors our vision to support the many industries we serve by collaborating on ways materials science and our global development teams can help bring high-performance and sustainable products to market in a cost effective way,” said HH Wong, DPP director, Americas.

Monday, March 23 at noon: “Material Selection Based on Feel - A Methodology for Technical Evaluation”
• Experienced DPP designers, Eric Larson and Mark Schuchardt, talk about how the senses, such as feel, sight and hearing, can be engaged in the earliest stages of product development and material selection to bring new innovative ideas to light. This session is repeated on Thursday, March 26, 2 p.m.
Tuesday, March 24 at 10 a.m.: “DuPont™ Zytel® PLUS nylon – Material Solutions for Long-Term Use at High Temperatures”
• DuPont scientist Rodica-Sinziana Himmeldirk will address how this new advanced material can support the automotive industry’s drive to increase vehicle fuel efficiency by reducing weight.
Tuesday, March 24 at noon: “Not Your Average Recycling Talk”
• DuPont Packaging & Industrial Polymers leaders Shane Campbell, North America industrial and consumer director, and David Dean, Ph.D., research and development director, will discuss with partner companies (below) the shifting mindset about recycling, the latest advances in recycling machinery, and out-of-the-box success stories of recycled materials used in everyday items such as packaging and carpeting. Wednesday, March 25 at noon: “How Plastics can do More to Drive Automotive Lightweighting”
• Jeffrey Sternberg, global automotive technology director, DuPont Performance Polymers, will share that taking weight out of vehicle systems and components tops the auto industry’s list of strategies to lower emissions and improve fuel efficiency. He challenges the preconceived notion that the easy components have been converted to plastics and offers new ways to find cost-effective weight savings by engaging the value chain early the development cycle.
Wednesday, March 25 at 2 p.m.: “Engineering Polymer Solutions to Support Design and Innovation in Drug Delivery Devices”
• William Hassink, DuPont Performance Polymers global healthcare segment leader, lends navigation to what can appear to be a bewildering range of materials to choose from when designing discrete drug delivery devices.
Thursday, March 26 at 10 a.m.: “So What’s so Special about DuPont™ Surlyn® Specialty Ionomer?”
• A panel of DuPont researchers and fellows (below) join hosts from DuPont Packaging & Industrial Polymers, Shane Campbell, North America industrial and consumer director, and David Dean, Ph.D., research and development director, to provide insights into cutting-edge advances made to unique DuPont™ Surlyn® ionomer capabilities. DuPont scientists will discuss the latest advances which help improve puncture resistance in packaging, golf ball performance and nylon modification.
