Nursing Executive to Develop and Lead Nursing Leadership Program at Western Connecticut Health Network
Danbury, Connecticut (PRWEB) April 20, 2015 -- Western Connecticut Health Network (WCHN) announces today that Moreen Donahue, DNP, RN, NEA-BC, FAAN who was named The Beatrice Hofstadter White Endowed Chair for Nursing Education and Research in September 2014, is transitioning from her current role as System Chief Nursing Officer to lead the development of Western Connecticut Health Network’s Nurse Leadership program. In this newly created role, Donahue will be responsible for the identification and implementation of leading edge and innovative nursing education standards and practices to ensure that our Network nursing and patient care services are benchmarked to “best in industry”.
Additionally, Dr. Donahue is pursuing an Interprofessional Fellowship in Innovative Health Leadership offered by Arizona State University and the American Organization of Nurse Executives in partnership with Mayo Clinic’s Center for Innovation. This unique one-year program helps health professionals with executive leadership responsibilities drive innovation in their organization. As part of the experience, she is participating in a series of immersion sessions across the country at Arizona State University, The Institute for Healthcare Improvement (Boston), Cincinnati Children's Medical Center and Kaiser-Permanente Innovation Consultancy (Oakland). Her learnings will help shape the creation of our Nurse Leadership program and strengthen our organization’s ability to innovate.

Dr. Donahue will continue to serve as Chief Nursing Officer while the WCHN conducts a national search for her replacement.
