Nursing Homes & Assisted Living Retirement Communities Enter Seniors Guide's Seniors Got Talent
Richmond, Virginia (PRWEB) November 24, 2014 -- Residents of retirement communities in Ohio and Virginia are taking center stage in this year’s SENIORS GOT TALENT, an annual online talent competition and showcase organized by Seniors Guide.
From piano players to classic crooners, to seniors partying on a “night on the town”, it’s clear that older adults are indeed living young.

Scarlet Oaks, a retirement community in Cincinnati featuring Independent Living, Assisted Living, Skilled Nursing and Rehabilitation services, is also home to a very talented resident.
At 83 years old, Cincinnati resident Minerva Lawson is quite the skilled pianist. Beginning at the age of 8, Minerva has been playing the piano – after only taking a single year of lessons.
“I love music. I love the feeling I get when I am playing. Sometimes, I feel like I am ‘cuddling’ the music,” says Mrs. Lawson.
Cedar Village Retirement Community in Mason, Ohio has their very own particularly talented resident - 85-year old Orlando Bellomo. A singer, who “spontaneously breaks into song in both Italian and English” showcases his talented voice with 2 songs: “Danny Boy” and “Come Back to Sorrento (Torna a Surriento)”.
Bellomo has been an active participant of Cedar Village’s certified music therapy program since 2011, providing a leisure outlet to help rekindle his musical skills and talents.
A returning SENIORS GOT TALENT participant, and 2013 winner, provides a fun video which takes inspiration from Taco Bell’s “Viva Young” TV commercials. Runk and Pratt Senior Living in Lynchburg, Virginia show what can happen when residents sneak out for a little fun and stay “Up All Night” partying.
The Lynchburg, VA, retirement community assists residents of their Lynchburg and Liberty Ridge locations stay healthy and active with Independent Living, Assisted Living, Nursing Care, Respite, and Rehabilitation programs. The community also offers Alzheimer’s and memory care services through their brand new location at Liberty Ridge in Lynchburg.
The top 3 videos with the most votes by the end of December 2014 will win cash prizes - $1,000, $500, and $250. Prize money is encouraged for continued funding of activity programs and other resident-focused programs.
