NVTC TechPAC Endorses Mark Herring for Attorney General of Virginia
HERNDON, Va. (PRWEB) October 04, 2017 -- NVTC TechPAC, the political action committee of the Northern Virginia Technology Council (NVTC), announced its endorsement today of Mark Herring for Attorney General of Virginia.
“Mark Herring has distinguished himself as a strong champion for our regional and statewide technology community as a state senator and as Attorney General,” said NVTC TechPAC Chairman Jeff Novak, Vice President and Deputy General Counsel at Oath, a Verizon company. “We are pleased to endorse his candidacy for re-election as Attorney General based on NVTC’s legislative agenda and policy priorities. We appreciate Mark’s continuing efforts to strengthen Virginia’s legal and policy framework to support and grow our technology economy and further increase our competitiveness as a global technology center.”
After serious consideration and deliberation following interviews with both major party gubernatorial candidates about their positions on issues related to NVTC’s legislative agenda and policy priorities, the NVTC TechPAC Board of Trustees has decided not to make an endorsement in the race for Virginia governor.
“NVTC strongly advocates for policies that encourage entrepreneurs and technology businesses to locate and grow in Virginia; promote research and commercialization; build Virginia’s technology workforce through education, workforce training and talent recruitment; and continue to enhance Virginia's reputation as a global technology center,” said NVTC TechPAC Chairman Jeff Novak, Vice President and Deputy General Counsel at Oath, a Verizon company. “The NVTC TechPAC Board of Trustees is gratified that both major party gubernatorial candidates have embraced NVTC’s goals, objectives and priorities and have made them central to their campaign proposals. We believe that both of these candidates would substantially advance our regional and statewide technology economy and our global competitiveness. We hope both parties will continue to nominate candidates of this caliber.”
NVTC TechPAC is administered by a 25 member Board of Trustees composed of top executives and government relations professionals from NVTC member companies. NVTC TechPAC Trustees interview the major party candidates for Governor and Attorney General as part of its statewide candidate endorsement process. All NVTC TechPAC decisions are based on NVTC's Legislative Agenda and policy priorities and any endorsement of a statewide candidate requires a two-thirds majority of trustees. NVTC TechPAC does not issue endorsements in races for Lieutenant Governor.
