New York, NY (PRWEB) May 29, 2014 -- New York based photographer, Jeffrey Apoian http://www.jeffreyapoian.com was able to give a new look to the event icons used by this year’s World Science Festival http://www.worldsciencefestival.com held in the five boroughs of New York City opening this month. This event hosts five days of events with 50 venues. The event icon photos are being used to symbolize the various workshops and salons that bring together novices to award winning physicists in an effort to make the world of science accessible to all.
“The icons are fantastic. They have a beauty and sophistication that far exceeds anything we’ve done before,” states Brian Greene, co-founder World Science Festival.
Brian Greene is an American theoretical physicist and string theorist. He has been a professor at Columbia University since 1996 and chairman of the World Science Festival since co-founding it in 2008. The 2014 World Science Festival will take place from May 28 to June 1. The World Science is an annual celebration and exploration of science that launched in 2008.
Originally approached to photograph portraits of the festival scientists, the still life assignment was a natural progression utilizing Apoian’s still life and people skills. Diving into the physics department’s basement lab at Princeton University, in New Jersey, Apoian shot everything from quantum physics experiments to Tesla coils sparking against a dark backdrop. Other shots involving freezing the image of a balloon bursting when punctured to DNA strips built out of bamboo demonstrated the creativity the team employed to create shots. These shots took place at Jeffrey Apoian’s New York SoHo photography studio making the process seamless.
