NYC Muscle Team to Raise Record Funds for the Muscular Dystrophy Association at 19th Annual Gala
New York, (PRWEB) December 29, 2015 -- New York City’s top execs from the construction, real estate and maintenance fields are joining together with professional athletes from Metro New York’s teams to put their muscles behind finding urgently needed treatments and cures for muscular dystrophy, ALS and related diseases that severely limit strength and mobility at the 19th annual NYC Muscle Team on Jan. 5, 2016, to benefit the Muscular Dystrophy Association.
This high energy event will be held at Pier 60 at Chelsea Piers from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m. Guests will enjoy a night complete with live and silent auctions, great food, live entertainment and more - all while raising critical funds and awareness to help kids and adults living with life-threatening neuromuscular diseases live longer and grow stronger.
This year, the NYC Muscle Team Dinner Chairs and Committee are proud to honor Marc Chiapperino of VVA, LLC and Raymond Quartararo of JPMorgan Chase as the 2016 Coaches.
NY Muscle Team will also be honoring the Rosso Family as the Russ Salzberg Champion of Hope Award Recipient. The award, named after Fox 5/My 9 News Sports Anchor and tireless advocate for MDA, is presented to an individual who has inspired Russ’ unyielding commitment to MDA.
Additional honorees include Peter Striano, of Unity International, who is the event’s 2016 Champion of Spirit. The Champion of Spirit award is bestowed upon an individual who has demonstrated passion, drive and commitment to making a difference in the lives of people living with neuromuscular diseases. Mr. Striano is an integral part of the history and future of the NY Muscle Team.
"We are excited to be celebrating the 19th annual Muscle Team Gala that will make a real difference in the lives of MDA families living right here in our community,” said MDA Director of Business Development Caity Connolly. “The athletes we have joining the 2016 Muscle Team are as excited as ever to put their muscle behind MDA’s efforts to free individuals, and the families who love them, from the harm of muscle-debilitating diseases."
Over the past 18 years, MDA's NYC Muscle Team has raised more than $18 million to help accelerate care, support, treatments and cures for people whose abilities to move are compromised by neuromuscular disease — including everyday abilities like walking, running, hugging, talking and even breathing.
Dollars raised fuel MDA’s efforts to find research breakthroughs across diseases; to care for kids and adults from day one; and empower families with critical resources and support to live a life without limits.
Contributions help support MDA’s nationwide network of state-of-the-art support groups and clinics, including those at Columbia University Medical Center, Hospital for Special Surgery, NYU Langone Medical Center and more within the metro area.
The funds raised also make MDA summer camp possible so kids with muscle-debilitating diseases can enjoy a week where anything is possible at no cost to their families.
