NYIAD Partners With Hand 2 Hand on Citizen Re-Entry Assistance
New York, NY (PRWEB) May 31, 2017 -- The New York Institute of Art and Design has partnered with Hand 2 Hand, a non-profit organization that supports ex-offenders by providing support and mentorship. Hand 2 Hand works to reduce the rate of recidivism by providing re-entry assistance.
Through this new partnership, returning citizens working with Hand 2 Hand will receive free and discounted career training opportunities so that they can learn new skills necessary for success. The first initiative that NYIAD and Hand 2 Hand will work on together includes six free Floral Design Courses.
“This will allow Hand 2 Hand the chance to be the very first organization to create job development with small business start-up assistance in the area of Floral Design, for the ex-offender population in the State of Ohio,” said Hand 2 Hand CEO Veronica Robinson. “It will give these ex-offenders the opportunity to renew their minds and change what led them to participate in criminal behavioral.”
The New York Institute of Art and Design’s online Floral Design Course will train students on the tools, supplies, and workspace requirements required to be an effective floral designer, as well as how to design beautiful arrangements for any event or occasion. In addition, they receive extensive business skills training so that upon graduation, they are able to succeed as a professional designer.
