Oaks Christian Online Senior Assists in the Production of Autism Awareness Concert in Hollywood, CA
(PRWEB) April 27, 2017 -- Alex Lin, Oaks Christian Online School (OCO) senior, has been hard at work in preparing for the 2nd Annual Autism Rocks Concert taking place on April 28th at Universal City Walk, Hollywood.
Alex wanted to find a way to give back to a community that he is largely a part of by pursuing his passions of helping others and participating in charity work. Alex himself has a diagnosis of mild Asperger's syndrome, so this topic is very close to his heart. He is ambitious and determined to make a difference in society with the goals he pursues. As an OCO student, he has the flexibility to pursue his interests while in high school. This concert is one way Alex has been able to invest in others while greatly benefiting the autism community.
The concert is from 7-9pm, a free event, and open to the public. Alex is thrilled to contribute to the planning of this community experience. From the concert producer, “[This is] a night of live performances from Logan Sheppard, The Miracle Project Live, Travis Atreo, Adanna Duru, BLAIR and more! Our goal is to raise awareness for autism through the power of music and celebrate how awesome it is to be different….Because we are ALL different in our own unique way.” Find out more on how to attend here: https://www.autismspeaks.org/node/322346 and autismrocksla.com.
Alex has truly benefitted from being enrolled in a rigorous online high school, as it has allowed him the time and freedom to pursue his many passions, as well as participate in a unique learning environment which has created opportunities for individualized instruction, friendships and academic excellence. Also in his free time, Alex enjoys watching baseball, spending time with friends, learning, and watching Marvel movies. When asked what he is looking forward to in the coming year, Alex states, “I am looking forward to planning the third annual Autism Rocks Concert, going to college and getting to know more people from all around the world.”
