OATI Delivers Phase 2 of East Kentucky Power Cooperative, Inc. Demand Response Management System
Minneapolis, MN (PRWEB) February 04, 2016 -- Open Access Technology International, Inc. (OATI) was selected by East Kentucky Power Cooperative (EKPC) to implement OATI's centralized Demand Response Management System (DRMS). This system will enable EKPC and its 16 member cooperatives to streamline the process of managing, dispatching, measuring, and verifying their load management programs in full compliance with PJM’s Market Structure and Emergency Operations Plans.
Following a successful on-time implementation of Phase I in mid-2015, OATI immediately began implementation of Phase 2, delivering the phase’s functionality on schedule. This phase involved the integration of the OATI webDistribute solution with the different Advanced Metering Infrastructure (AMI) systems deployed by the distribution cooperatives. The local systems currently integrated include Landys & Gyr, Aclara, Tantalus, and Eaton Cannon Cooper.
The Direct Load Control Phase 2 functionality and integration allows EKPC, with a single command, to assess all available Demand Response (DR) resources, and dispatch all the load control assets of their 16 member cooperatives. The dispatch commands flow from the OATI solution to the local member cooperative AMI head end systems, that initiates the control sequence. No additional manual steps are required.
The OATI solution allows EKPC to see all their dispatchable assets in one place, be those assets large C&I controllable loads or individual distribution member water heaters and air conditioners. All data related to the load control programs is aggregated within the OATI solution allowing a comprehensive view of these assets. This view enables EKPC to maximize the economic value of these important assets for their member cooperatives within the PJM System.
