OEC Natgasoline Methanol Project Deploys Materials Management System Leveraging Mobile and Auto-Identification Technology
Houtson, Texas (PRWEB) August 25, 2015 -- Atlas RFID Solutions, the world leader in modern materials management for industrial construction, today announced its Jovix solution has been deployed at Orascom E&C USA’s (OEC) Natgasoline project. Jovix is the materials management system of record for the $1 billion-plus methanol complex in Beaumont, Texas. Atlas was awarded the project earlier this year and immediately mobilized a team to implement the solution just after the first material for the project was received this spring.
The Natgasoline project is comprised of a complex supply chain that includes multiple fabricators, laydown yards, and receiving ports, with Jovix serving as the sole materials management system for the project. The solution includes a combination of server and mobile device software, rugged barcodes, rugged field tablets, and supporting professional services and is integrated with purchase order information, shipments for the permanent plant materials, field purchase orders, and rental equipment.
Construction is scheduled to begin this fall, at which time the system functionality will expand to issuing material to construction, and will manage the preventative maintenance, cycle counting, and inspections processes going forward into installation.
“The Natgasoline project is a prime example that implementing an auto-identification powered materials management system does not necessitate the use of active or passive RFID technology. The materials at this project are identified primarily with barcodes,” Atlas RFID Solutions COO Bobby Ball states. “Each Jovix deployment is carefully assessed and planned, with the approach to managing materials unique to each project based on the pre-determined goals. There is no ‘silver bullet’ for unique material identifiers, and sometimes barcodes are the least expensive solution and the most effective.”
The Atlas team will be an ongoing resource for the duration of the multi-year project, working closely with both client and contractor stakeholders to ensure positive ROI and value-added service.
The first phase of the project will use natural gas as a source to produce methanol. The second phase will use methanol to produce fuel. Natgasoline will create work for thousands of construction workers and over 200 permanent positions when the facility is fully operational.
