Ohio Law Firm Holds Town Hall Meeting For Ohio Corn Farmers For Information On Syngenta MIR162 Corn Lawsuits
Columbus, OH (PRWEB) April 13, 2015 -- The Ohio corn lawyers at Wright & Schulte LLC, who are currently representing corn farmers from across the country in Syngenta corn lawsuits, announces they have scheduled another town hall meeting to provide legal assistance to Ohio farmers, corn distributors and others who may have incurred significant financial losses purportedly due to Syngenta MIR16. Court documents in the Syngenta lawsuit litigation indicate that in 2013, Chinese regulators began to reject U.S. corn shipments that were believed to be tainted with the Viptera trait, which in turn caused prices for the commodity to drop significantly. Court documents in these Syngenta MIR162 corn lawsuits further contend that China’s rejections of the U.S. corn shipments have cost the U.S. agricultural industry over $1 billion. Syngenta Corn Lawsuit Litigation
Syngenta GMO Corn Lawsuits have been filed nationwide on behalf of corn growers, grain distributors, exporters, and other related businesses in the industry. Where documents in these corn lawsuits allege the Swiss-based agricultural company had misled U.S. corn farmers on the timeline for regulatory approval of the Viptera GMO corn in China, who has a well-known zero tolerance policy regarding the import of unapproved seeds. In November of 2013, China had began to reject U.S. corn shipments tainted with Viptera trait, and would ultimately turn back more than 1.2 million tons of U.S. corn crops. Plaintiffs in these corn lawsuits further claim that the rejections have cost U.S. agribusinesses more than $1 billion.

Court documents further indicate that over 490 Syngenta lawsuits are pending in the U.S. District Court, District of Kansas, where all federally-filed claims alleging economic damages due to Syngenta’s handling of GMO varieties have been consolidated for coordinated pretrial proceedings. The Syngenta GMO lawsuits contend that Syngenta aggressively marketed the Viptera seed without warning U.S. corn growers that China had not yet approved importing the bioengineered corn product. Plaintiffs allege in their Syngenta complaints that once Viptera was on the market, the genetically modified corn contaminated other corn varieties when it was planted in fields adjacent to those crops. Further co-mingling occurred at grain elevators, terminal grain facilities, and even ships that carried corn exports to other countries, according to the lawsuit. As a result, it wasn’t long before Viptera had contaminated the entire U.S. corn supply.
According to Wright & Schulte LLC, the Syngenta litigation is not about GMO corn. Any farmer in the U.S. who grew commercial grade hybrid corn from 2011 through 2014 – regardless of the variety – is eligible to file a claim in this proceeding.
