Ohio State Prisons Using Cellsense® to Detect Smuggled Cell Phones
Lisle, IL (PRWEB) May 22, 2014 -- Cellsense®, the leading name in cell phone contraband detection for prisons, is used by the Ohio State Prisons agency in its intensified efforts to combat smuggled cell phones and dangerous items in prisons.
Reported by Cincinnati WLWT-5 on 4-25-14 in “Ohio prisons cracking down on smuggled cell phones”, Lebanon Correctional Institution Warden Ernie Moore says phones behind bars are dangerous. "Cell phones give inmates the ability to continue criminal activity from inside the prison." To combat smuggled cell phones and other contraband, the state prisons are using Cellsense, with prisoners lining up and walking past the detector. When the Cellsense detector alerts with a red light, the corrections officer administers a pat-down search of the inmate.
The state prisons agency reported finding 483 cell phones in Ohio prisons last year and hopes to find more with the use of Cellsense. Ohio joins the growing number of county, state and federal correctional facilities using Cellsense.
