OKC School Board Purchases Portable Classrooms To Ease Overcrowding
DeSoto, TX (PRWEB) June 12, 2014 -- The purchase includes delivery and installation of the buildings, which are expected to be in place by Aug. 4 for the start of the fall 2014 school year.
“We received notice of the project award in the first week of June,” says John Martin, President at Palomar Modular Buildings, “We have eight weeks to construct the pre-fabricated structures, transport them to the schools and install them. Modular classrooms are just a perfect fit for these scenarios. We can produce the buildings quickly enough to meet the tight schedule, and the buildings are relocatable so they can be moved around the district as enrollment changes.”
All but one of the buildings will contain four classrooms and a restroom. Lee’s new annex will contain two classrooms and a restroom.
“We’re going to have to have them,” said board member Ron Millican, who represents Lee and Southern Hills.
Most southside schools were a part of the original MAPS for Kids construction plan, but enrollment projections in the 2001 bond measure did not anticipate the large population growth that has occurred in the area.
