Old Photo Inspires Ottawa Author Robertson's New Book
Ottawa, Ontario (PRWEB) April 13, 2016 -- When retired Ottawa public servant and author Mike Robertson found a black and white photograph of his brother's first communion, little did it know that it would be the inspiration for a murder mystery. The result is his eighth book, "The First Communion Murders", it is now available.
This gripping murder mystery draws readers into the interconnected histories of young boys long since passed away. It begins when occasional mystery buff and retiree Michael Townes comes across a black and white photograph from the 1950s in an old steamer trunk he buys at a neighborhood auction. It is a picture of an assembly of boys standing on church steps following their first communions. Strangely, there are small Xs ascribed above the heads of eight of the boys in the picture. He is curious above the marks and decides to seriously investigate them. Realizing he is in over the head, Townes recruits the help of a grizzled private detective named Malcolm Pratt and his reluctant wife Patricia. He eventually discovers that they have one thing in common. They all met tragic ends under mysterious circumstances.
Author Robertson found the photograph of his brother's first communion in his attic a few years back. It prompted him to ponder the fates of the boys in the picture. He imagined marks above the heads of some of the boys and soon was constructing the plot for a murder mystery.
"The First Communion Murders" is an intelligently written murder mystery about how the past can haunt the present. It appeals to the mystery buff in us all, particularly those interest in historical fiction. The book is currently being adapted as a possible screenplay. Mike Robertson has written eight books, including "The First Communion Murders".
