Omni Financial: Volunteer Pilots Unite to Help a Poodle from Korea
(PRWEB) September 23, 2014 -- Dogs and cats around the country are being rescued from poor conditions thanks to “Pilots N Paws.” Pilots N Paws is a non-profit organization that helps animal rescue teams, volunteer pilots, and plane owners to come together to assist animals in distress due to natural disasters, overcrowded living conditions in homes or shelters, or being separated from their owners.
Andre Bohy, president of Omni Financial, is a volunteer pilot who has flown multiple rescue missions for Pilots N Paws, including one this past spring. Andre, along with Omni Financial, volunteered his time, plane, fuel, and piloting skills to transport a group of puppies from North Carolina to a shelter in the Danbury, CT area where these cuddly bundles of fur would all find loving homes. Andre also conducts volunteer flights for the “Veterans Airlift Command” serving the needs of wounded service members.
A Global Rescue Effort to Save Rex
Most recently Andre participated in what can only be termed a unique and long distance Pilots N Paws rescue mission with an international twist. The rescue involved Rex, a red French poodle that was born in the Republic of Korea, where red poodles are considered to be fashionable. Rex was purchased by a United States service member stationed in Korea. What the service member did not know at the time of the purchase was that his young son would be allergic to Rex. With no choice but to be removed from the service member’s family, Rex was escorted to the United States by a volunteer where he was placed in a foster home on Long Island. Rex was then flown by a Pilots N Paws pilot to Rhode Island. It is here in Rhode Island that Andre joined in the mission to get Rex to Poodle Rescue, a waiting shelter in Burlington, VT.
On Saturday, August 30, 2014 Andre happily flew Rex on the last leg of the mission to escort him to Burlington and the Poodle Rescue. The Poodle Rescue team gave young Rex his vaccinations, neutering, and will work to find him a permanent loving family.
The bottom line of this multi-mile saga is that thanks to volunteer Pilots N Paws pilots and plane owners, young Rex and countless other dogs, cats and even reptiles will be safe, loved, and happy.
