One Degree Games Releases Fireback Movies to Give Movie Fans a New Way to Connect With Each Other by Connecting Movies
Austin, TX (PRWEB) September 04, 2014 -- In their newly released free game Fireback Movies™, newcomer One Degree Games introduces movie buffs to an interactive matching of wits against friends. Players battle by firing movies back and forth. The game starts when the first player names any movie of his/her choice. The next player’s challenge is to name another movie that has at least one actor in common with the first. The game checks each movie by referencing a proprietary database of 250,000 movies. If correct, the gameplay returns to the original player who now must name a movie that has an actor in common with the second movie. Fireback Movies can jump across decades and genres in each round as players continue to use their movie knowledge to score points.
“Traditional trivia games ask random lists of trivia questions,” said Charlie Scott, co-founder of One Degree Games. “In Fireback Movies, each player dynamically creates the challenge posed to the opponent on each turn. For example, if your opponent plays Boogie Nights, you could fire back Almost Famous (connected by Philip Seymour Hoffman) or Smokey and the Bandit (connected by Burt Reynolds). Unlike most trivia games, Fireback Movies lets you show your personality. As opponents reveal their movie knowledge, you learn about them. A game against one friend is different from one against another.”
Players earn points with each successful turn. Some connected movies are worth more points than others, adding an important strategic element to the game. For example, playing a movie with different actor connections from the last play is called a “Change Connection,” which receives bonus points. Additional bonus points are also awarded for multiple actor connections and fast play.
Fireback Movies is a casual game where players can take their turns when they want. The previous player’s movie is not revealed until the START TURN button is selected giving 60 seconds to respond. When players are stumped in Fireback Movies, they can take advantage of in-game “Lifelines.”
