Kansas City, Missouri (PRWEB) April 12, 2016 -- Global warming is an important issue throughout the entire world. Water conservation is vital in these drought and desert-like areas; gardening is harder or simply cannot be done. This was the inspiration behind the creation of the newest irrigation system and The Handy Camel product, the Garden Thorn. With Spring and Summer nearing, the Garden Thorn will save water every time flowers, gardens, or vegetables are watered.
The Garden Thorn is simply a spike made of recycled plastic. It is an easy to use, underground irrigation system that will change the way the world waters their gardens and landscapes. To use, the spike is hammered in the ground near a plant or a flower pot that will be watered. Then, the needle at the top of the Garden Thorn will puncture a hose when snapped in place. Water is pressurized and then injects water down into the spike and is let out by a hole at the bottom; watering the roots and soil directly around the plant.
There is no runoff or evaporation when using the Garden Thorn—wherever the spike is placed in the ground--is where the water will be directed three to six inches underground. Soaker hoses and normal hoses water wherever they are placed on the surface of the ground, not directly into the soil like the Garden Thorn. This product will help states like California during droughts because of the discrete, innovative design. The Garden Thorn will save not only gallons of water, but time watering gardens as well. It is currently undergoing testing in regards to water conservation and efficiency.
The Garden Thorn launches on the popular crowdfunding website, Indiegogo, on April 26th, 2016. The product packages will come in one color (black), two sizes (three and six inch spikes), and include a hammer cap. It will be available with 25 feet and 50 feet hoses as well as a remote hose to use in potted plants. A package with a hose is available, or use any 5/8-inch gardening hose on hand.
