(PRWEB) January 23, 2014 -- OneEnergy Renewables, a developer of large-scale clean energy projects, recently announced its 2014 OneEnergy Scholars® class in partnership with Net Impact, the leading nonprofit that empowers a new generation to work within and beyond business for a sustainable future. The OneEnergy Scholars® program accelerates the careers of high potential individuals who have demonstrated outstanding leadership and vision in the field of renewable energy.
This year, OneEnergy Renewables honors seven remarkable graduate students, from some of the country’s leading academic institutions, who exemplify the dedication and intellectual capacity required to move the clean energy industry forward. The award recipients are Cina Loarie from Presidio Graduate School, Chris Otness from UNC Kenan-Flagler Business School, Chris Wang from Harvard University, Erin Geoffroy from University of Georgia Terry College of Business, Maurice Ahyow from USC Marshall School of Business, Tom Melburn from University of Utah David Eccles School of Business, and Trista Ristvedt from UMass Amherst Isenberg School of Management.
OneEnergy Renewables provides award recipients with broad recognition for their achievements, personalized career counseling, internship opportunities, and peer and professional networking.
"These are extraordinary students, each of them," says OneEnergy Renewables' CEO Bryce Smith. "Their backgrounds and skills are varied and impressive, and each has demonstrated a deep personal commitment to renewable energy. The economic and environmental challenges we face are daunting, but this class of passionate and talented OneEnergy Scholars reminds me that we have the brainpower to heal our self-inflicted wounds. When I reflect on all the mentors who were so generous in supporting my fledgling career, I'm pleased to think that OneEnergy Renewables might open similar doors for these students.”
The partnership between Net Impact and OneEnergy is a natural extension of a shared commitment to help young people accelerate their impact through their careers. “We experienced immediate enthusiasm about the OneEnergy Scholars award program from our network,” said Liz Maw, CEO of Net Impact. Says Maw, “This program is a tremendous opportunity for our student leaders to build crucial skills, deepen their understanding of the renewable energy field, and receive invaluable mentoring on their path to careers with sustainable impact.”
