OneWorld Memorials Reveals New Cremation Urns From Asian Artisans
St. Paul, MN (PRWEB) January 13, 2016 -- On Wednesday, January 13, OneWorld Memorials Founder and President Ira Woods is announcing the permanent addition of new Turkish and exceptional quality Chinese cremation urns to the company's product line.
Towards the end of 2015, the company began conducting a test run of cremation urns created by Turkish and Chinese ceramic artists. Initially, all of the Turkish urns and many of the Chinese pieces sold out, while the remaining Asian-themed urns also experienced strong sales. Now, Woods says he's happy to be adding more diverse styles of cremation urns to his online store.
"Our name OneWorld Memorials comes from the fact that we're seeking interesting cultural products from around the world," Woods explained. "There seemed to be some interest from our customers for Asian-themed cremation urns for ashes and memorial keepsakes, in terms of their artwork, traditional shapes, and so on. And they're just doing incredibly well. People just love them, so now we're bringing in a lot more because of the strong positive response to these items."
Earlier in 2015, OneWorld Memorials debuted memorial keepsakes and cremation urns for ashes designed by South American and African artisans working in traditional styles. By offering these new Asian-themed pieces, Woods hopes to both expand the company's business and accomplish his personal goal of featuring diverse artisans from around the globe.
In September 2015, the Pew Research Center reported that immigrants to the United States from Asia, particularly China and India, will surpass the number of Hispanic immigrants. Not only that, but "Asian immigrants are projected to make up a larger share of all immigrants, becoming the largest immigrant group by 2055 and making up 38% of the [United States] foreign-born population by 2065."
But Woods noted that these new cremation urns have an appeal beyond Asian and Asian-American customers. Of course, Wood hopes these new items will be attractive to Asian customers, but he believes Asian-themed artwork has always been very appealing to Westerners as well.
"One of the new Asian-themed pieces is a painting of a nature scene in a valley," Woods said in a phone interview. "Now, I remember one of our customers buying it and loving it, but she bought it because it reminded her of a passage in the Bible. She didn't see it as an Asian item. A lot of the Asian artwork, especially the Chinese artwork, features beautiful nature scenery, meadows, flowers and mountains which you don't see that much when you look at the majority of commodity cremation urns that are available on the market today."
