Bohemia, NY (PRWEB) September 16, 2013 -- Internet marketing company fishbat responds to an article published by Mashable, which details a new Twitter feature available to verified users.
According to a September 13th article published by Mashable titled, “Exclusive Feature for Verified Users,” Twitter recently announced a new feature update for verified users to enhance and manage conversations. The news comes right after the social network revealed it had filed for an IPO.
The article says the new feature allows “verified users (those with the blue check marks) to filter their Twitter mentions in the ‘Connect’ tab above their feed.” Instead of having to sift through the mentions, a user can separate mentions into three different categories: all, filtered and verified.
This new feature is designed to help verified users identify spam posts. For example, if the user chooses to view all the tweets in the “verified” category, it will only show mentions by verified users. The tweets in the “filtered” category will be based on Twitter’s current algorithm to eliminate spam, the article says.
Justin Maas, vice president of client relations at Internet marketing company fishbat, says the new feature is a great idea to help push celebrities and public figures to interact with fans. “Celebrities or other verified users on Facebook tend to ignore mentions due to the high frequency of spam messages,” he says. “Twitter is attempting to improve its platform for verified users in hopes that it will prompt more interaction. Advertisers, brands and celebrities could really benefit from talking to real fans or followers on Twitter. This new feature should help make that process easier.”
While it’s only available to verified users currently, Maas says Twitter will probably introduce a public filtering system sometime in the future. “Twitter understands its problem with spam, and I have no doubts that it will develop a similar feature to thwart spammers from general user profiles,” he says.
