Online Streaming of iStand Falls Prevention® Program Now Available from HoliVision
Birmingham, AL (PRWEB) January 29, 2014 -- The iStand Falls Prevention® program can now be experienced online by millions of at-risk seniors, physical therapists, neurologists, assisted living communities, veterans’ hospitals, and rehabilitation facilities with iStand’s streaming video of Tai Chi and Otago, two of the most widely recognized, evidence-based falls prevention exercise programs in the world.
The launch of this first and only global online network for falls prevention was announced by HoliVision, a small, woman-owned business that created and produced the iStand program. In addition to online streaming, iStand is available as an app from iTunes and in DVD format.
iStand helps minimize the risk of falls for seniors, stroke victims, employees, and others with the use of evidence-based exercise routines. These routines include simple activities and movements from two of the highest-rated, evidence-based exercise programs in the world - Tai Chi and the Otago Exercise Program (OEP). Seniors and others who use iStand can improve balance, strength, and awareness - all of which help minimize the risk of falls.
"The need for an online streaming program like iStand is tremendous," says Mazy Holiday, creator of iStand, and founder and CEO of HoliVision. "Falls are the leading cause of death due to injury among seniors which many people do not realize, and this tragic fact will only intensify as the baby boomers age. iStand can help reverse the epidemic of falls on an international level by making proven exercise programs accessible and available 24/7."
Online streaming of iStand allows physical therapists (PTs) for example, to organize group classes at a rehab center and use iStand’s online streaming video to lead the exercises - group classes can increase throughput and cash-based revenue. Other uses of the iStand program include training other PTs, one-on-one PT/patient instruction (for PTs not trained in Otago or Tai Chi), and caregiver instruction if a patient is homebound (if a patient does not have internet, he/she can use the mobile app available on GooglePlay tablet and iPad). Once a senior or rehab patient has completed therapy, the PT can recommend they do the programs at home with a caregiver using the iStand mobile app if appropriate.
In a recent online interview with Jon Shumacher of New Wave HealthCare, http://newwavehealthcare.com/interview/mazyholiday/ Ms. Holiday explained the value of an easy access falls prevention program like iStand to help minimize the problem of falls.
"By making iStand’s exercise programs readily available 24/7, increasing user throughput, and seniors’ socialization we can reduce both the risk of falls and depression due to isolation," says Holiday. "Having access to large groups of seniors also gives PTs and facility directors the opportunity to educate seniors and caregivers on the risk factors for falls. The senior population will double in less than 25 years so it's important to increase awareness of these risks and start to accelerate throughput now."
iStand is currently partnering with several organizations including Cranium Crunches, an online brain training site founded by Ruth Curran, herself a former rehabilitation patient following a car accident, and an expert in cognitive psychology. Several rehabilitation centers are already using the iStand program with their residents including Hope Rehab Katy in Katy, TX (http://www.hoperehabkaty.com/home.html).
One out of three seniors over age 65 falls each year according to the US Centers for Disease Control (CDC) with falls being the number one cause of injury-related death for seniors in the US.
The iStand website, http://www.istandfit.com, contains information about licensing packages which can be quickly and easily secured all on the website. Licensing iStand allows an assisted living facility, veterans’ hospital or physical therapist group to access online video streaming of the exercise routines. It can support senior centers, stroke centers, corporate health & wellness departments, caregivers, and other businesses and organizations that recognize the importance of falls prevention and want to implement their own internal program. iStand has several licensing packages available, and can tailor any package to the particular needs of an organization. In addition, as part of their partnering incentive program, a free month is available to licensees who refer a client that purchases a licensing package.
Visitors to http://www.istandfit.com can also download the iStand mobile app from iTunes or GooglePlay.
